Day One
Depart Cape Town either on the N2 or the N1 (depending on the Season) and drive through the magnificent Klein Karoo. Experience the beauty of this semi-arid area, with its red soils, its unique plant life and of course…..its thousands of ostriches….
Optional Port Wine Tasting in Calitzdorp, the Port Capital of Africa. Then tour one of the Ostrich Farms in area (where you can watch ostrich racing!), or visit the Cango Wildlife Ranch and have your picture taken with a family of Cheetahs!!
Cage diving with Crocodiles is also optional!
Overnight at Rozenhof, La Plume or Hlangana Lodge.
Day Two
At sunrise, experience the magic of watching families of meerkats awaken and go about their business in the Little Karoo. For those of you who watch Meerkat Manor on TV, this is an opportunity to spend time CLOSE UP to these fascinating creatures. These sunrise walks are conducted by field researchers and conservationists. Amazing photographic opportunities.
Then, before lunch, we take you to the Mighty Cango Caves, probably South Africa’s Greatest Natural Wonder, and certainly the most impressive collection of stalagmites and stalactites you are likely to see….
In the afternoon we drive to Knysna, the Oyster Capital of South Africa, via the breathtaking Outeniqua Mountain Pass. Catch a sunset cruise on the Estuary if we are running on time. This is really the best way to see the famous KNYSNA HEADS which guard the entrance of the enormous “lagoon”.
Overnight at either The Log Inn, St James, Belvidere Manor or Parkes Manor.
Day Three
Take a dolphin/whale safari and see marine life at its best in a licensed boat off Plettenberg Bay beach.
OR…We can arrange for you to go walking or riding through the indigenous forests with African Elephants
Other options include golf, kayaking, horse riding, cycling, hiking, quadbiking and/or shopping.
In the evening sample some of the freshest oysters you will find, at one of the Oyster Farms. Overnight in Knysna
Day Four
Watch, or join in the fun, at the World’s Highest Bridge Bungi Jumping Facility (Bloukrans: 216 metres – 7 seconds free-fall)
Or:
Visit a private world-famous forest sanctuary created to rehabilitate pet or zoo monkeys www.monkeyland.co.za
Or:
Visit the world’s largest free flight bird aviary with a very impressive of exotic and indigenous species. www.birdsofeden.co.za
Or:
End the day with a forest walk in a Coastal Reserve called Tsitsikamma, and a short cruise down the breathtaking gorge of the Storms River. Adventure options such as black-water tubing, abseiling, kayaking or tree-top canopy tours.
Or:
Visit an Animal Sanctuary called Tenikwa www.tenikwa.com
Day Five
OPTION 1::
Transfer to Port Elizabeth for shopping, sightseeing or a visit to the casino before you catch your connecting flight.
Or:
Transfer to George airport for the connecting flight to your international destination, to Sun City, or to Kruger National Park.
OPTION 2:
Transfer to a luxury lodge only a few minutes drive from Addo National Park, Gorah, Shamwari Game Reserve, Kwandwe, Kariega or Bushman Sands. Catch “The Big Five” on camera, and fly the next day from Port Elizabeth to Johannesburg or Durban to continue your South African Holiday.
OPTION 3:
Return to Cape Town with an overnight stop in Mossel Bay. Stop and visit the Famous Dias Museum Complex.
OPTION 4:
Return to Cape Town with an overnight stop at the Garden Route Game Lodge, Sanbona, or Botlierskop. Or if you spend the night in the picturesque town of Montagu, on your last day you will have the opportunity of doing the famous tractor ride that takes you high into the mountains of the Langeberge PLUS… you can enjoy lunch in the Robertson district , including an optional boat cruise on the Breede River before getting back to Cape Town.
