This is a 3 night, 4 day tour which will give you a taste of the cultures of the people on the West Coast. It is usually best to avoid the hottest months of the year when undertaking this trip.
Day One
On our first day we travel North from Cape Town through the wheat and sheep farms surrounding the farming towns of Malmesbury and Morreesburg. Stop for coffee and cake at quaint coffee shops and quirky places en route to Lambert’s Bay, and major West Coast fishing town.
Our highlight of the day will be a visit to Bird Island which lies about 100 m off the shore of Lambert’s Bay on the Cape’s West Coast. It offers visitors a rare opportunity to see the blue-eyed Cape gannet up close. Bird Island is one of only six sites world-wide where Cape gannets breed, and it is the only breeding site easily accessible to the public.
Then we head to Clanwilliam to arrive in time for Sunset. You will be overnight in this area for 2 nights at a luxury lodge nestled at the foot of the Cedarberg Mountains.
Day Two
Explore ancient caves and San Rock art left by the earliest civilisations to occupy Southern Africa. Optional visit to parts of the Estate dedicated to fruit farming.
Hiking, swimming and cycling are all options at your disposal. Visit the Ramskop Nature Reserve (in Springtime) or a Rooibos Tea Factory.
Travel back through Piketberg to the scenic coastal town of Paternoster, a quaint old fishing town which has turned into a trendy hot-spot for Lobster Lovers, beach walkers and fine-dining addicts. Spend the afternoon exploring the village on foot.
Experience the incredible sunset and enjoy a great West Coast meal.
Overnight in Paternoster.
Day Four
Return to Cape Town via the town of Darling. Try some local craft beer or wine.
